  1. Insomniac's Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is coming to PC in July by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Despite holding a major games showcase after a two-year year gap and showing off plenty of experiences, it seems Sony had held back an announcement that would have left a lot of PC gamers happy. In a Surprise announcement today with a simple blog post, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is getting a PC port on July 26. Catch the new PC reveal and features trailer of the port above. Released in 2021 for the PlayStation 5 as an exclusive, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart arrived as the ninth entry in the popular third-person platforming series. Franchise developer Insomniac Games returned for this entry too, taking a break from all its Spider-Man duties and delivering a game that was well-received and won several awards. Coming back to the PC version, its development is headed by the now Sony-owned porting specialist Nixxes Software, with Insomniac also lending support. "We are thrilled and honored to bring this iconic franchise to a new audience," said Nixxes community specialist Julian Huijbregts. "If you haven’t played a game from this series before, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is an excellent one to start with. The game is a visual spectacle that is perfectly suitable for newcomers thanks to a standalone storyline and the introduction of two brand new characters: Rivet & Kit." As with most ports of PlayStation exclusives, the PC version touts some new features over the original release too. This includes ray-traced reflections and shadows with multiple quality levels to choose from depending on the hardware. Ultra-wide monitor support extending to 21:9, 32:9, and up to 48:9 aspect ratio setups (for both gameplay and cutscenes) is confirmed too. Nvidia DLSS 3, AMD FSR 2, Intel XeSS, and Insomniac's own Temporal Injection technologies are also included to boost frame rates, which is now uncapped on the PC release as well. Moreover, full mouse and keyboard as well as controller support with rebindable keys are incoming too. Being a Sony game, the DualSense controller is supported as well, with wired connections offering the iconic haptic feedback and dynamic trigger effects. When the game was first released, it used the included SSD in the PlayStation 5 to help it handle its gameplay features, which included warping in and out of different settings with no load times. Sony has yet to reveal the PC specs for the game, but we expect that the PC version it might require an SSD as well Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart's July 26 launch will happen on Steam and the Epic Games Store for $59.99. Those who pre-order the title will also receive early access to Pixelizer weapon and Carbonox armor set.
  2. Spider-Man 2 trailer has brutal Symbiote action as Kraven and Lizard enters the fray by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Insomniac's delivered the final announcement of today's PlayStation 5 showcase, presenting the first gameplay trailer of Spider-Man 2. As we've already known from the original reveal in 2021, the game features both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, delivering what looks to be a double protagonist story. Watch the trailer above, where the main villains get a reveal too. Popular Spider-Man villains Kraven the Hunter and Dr. Curt Connors, AKA The Lizard have come to New York. It looks like Kraven is hunting all the "super" individuals in the city, and that includes other villains that usually just has Spider-Man to deal with. Of course, the Symbiote is here too, which has already latched on to Peter Parker. It's clear that his personality has already changed from the alien "suit". His special attacks seem much more brutal, and the voice lines taking on a more aggressive notes. Here's how Insomniac described the Symbiote suit's combat: New combat abilities can neutralize our new headstrong opponents with a little finesse. Strike back with aggressive parries to gain the upper-hand, or cast a web to shunt enemies between a hard place and a harder place. You can also activate a classic dodge to get out of danger – but don’t get too comfortable; some attacks can’t simply be dodged and will require a parry to properly evade them! With Miles Morales also joining the mix in this mainline entry, Insomniac is adding fast switching between the two heroes, which is described as "near-instant." He's also getting "Web Wings" to glide across the city using wind tunnels. "You’ll seamlessly switch between both Spider-Men across a variety of story moments in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2," says the studio. "We want players to bask in iconic team-ups elevated by our signature set piece moments, and experience the story from the perspective of each Spider-Man." Spider-Man 2 does not have a release date yet, but it is coming out on the PlayStation 5 sometime in fall 2023.
  3. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales now available on PC by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Sony and Insomniac Games announced the arrival of the Wall Crawler team to PC in June of this year, and with 2018's Spider-Man now out of the way, now it's time for the latest Spider-Man, Miles Morales, to make his way to a fresh platform. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales released in 2020 for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, coming in as both a spin-off and sequel to the base experience featuring Peter Parker. In addition to the usual Spider powers, Miles features own repertoire of special abilities like electricity attacks and camouflage. The new PC version has ray-traced reflections and shadows, a large array of graphics options to tweak, upscaling techniques like Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR, and support for ultra-wide monitors. Find the system requirements for a range of options below: High amount of customizability was touted as a feature for this release also, with porting studio Nixxes adding fully rebindable mouse and keyboard controls. Head here to read about the difficulties of implementing this feature for this originally gamepad-centric action game. Speaking of controllers, like many other PlayStation titles on PC, DualSense support is here too with adaptive triggers and haptic feedback, but only with a wired connection. A variety of other peripherals, with a high amount of customizability, are supported as well thanks to the game being integrated with Steam Input options. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is now available on Steam and the Epic Games Store for $49.99. As for what else from Sony's exclusive coffers is coming to PC, officially, The Last of Us Part 1 Remake is the next planned launch, while a Returnal PC version has also seen multiple leaks in recent months.
  4. Spider-Man: Miles Morales hits PC this November, system requirements are here by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Sony and Insomniac Games announced Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales for PC alongside the original Spider-Man back in June. While Peter Parker arrived on the new platform in August, Miles' entrance didn’t have a firm release date, until today. The action game is shedding its PlayStation exclusivity in just over a month: November 18. The PC porting team behind Spider-Man, Nixxes Software, is also handling this project while collaborating with Insomniac Games. The PC version is specifically said to be bringing updated ray-traced reflections and shadows for an even better-looking map for swinging in. Here are the official system requirements featuring both regular and ray-traced options: Support for ultra-wide displays (even supported in cutscenes), DLSS 3 and other upscaling tech, fully customizable graphics, and even handheld PCs like the Steam Deck is confirmed. The original game has been receiving a steady supply of updates with bug fixes and graphics features since its launch in August. It's likely that many of those enhancements will be available in Spider-Man: Miles Morales at launch. "Since the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered last August on PC, the teams at Nixxes and Insomniac have been amazed and humbled by the enthusiastic response of PC gamers worldwide," adds Sony. "Our heartfelt thanks go out to all of you, and we can’t wait to get the explosive powers of Miles Morales into your hands." Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is coming to both Steam and the Epic Games Store on November 18 with a $49.99 price tag. Pre-ordering will secure fans early access to two suits, the Gravity Well gadget, as well as three skill points.
  5. Spider-Man on PC gains Intel XeSS and AMD FSR 2.1.1 tech, DLSS 3 support coming soon by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Nixxes Software is continuing to drop updates on the recently released PC port of Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered. Patch 1.1006.0.0 landed today, and it has several highlights like new and improved temporal upscaling solutions, Steam and PlayStation Network account linking, performance fixes, and more. Intel's brand-new Xe Super Sampling (XESS) technology is now available in Spider-Man. Like AMD's FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) this can be used across Intel, AMD, and Nvidia GPUs. And speaking of FSR, AMD's newly released 2.1.1 update for the upscaler is now available in-game too. As for Nvidia users, RTX 4000 exclusive DLSS 3.0 tech will be introduced to Spider-Man soon in an update. Another interesting addition to this update is PlayStation Network (PSN) integration as an option. PC players can now link their Steam and PSN accounts for an in-game reward (Resilient Suit, Concussive Blast Gadget, plus two skill points) via the main menu. It's unclear if the Epic Games Store version of the game offers linking with Epic accounts or is it a Steam exclusive feature for now. Here are the issues fixed in this update: Made changes to address performance degradation when raytracing is enabled. Changed VRAM budgets to allow for more video memory usage. Fixed a bug that could cause the screen to turn black when switching to DLAA after DLSS had been set to Ultra Performance mode. Fixed corruption in ray-traced reflections at low render resolutions when screen space reflections are also enabled. Reduced flicker in ray-traced reflections when DLSS or DLAA is enabled. Fixed corruption in ray-traced reflections on Intel ARC GPUs. Minor visual fixes for some cinematics in 32:9 aspect ratio. For PC players looking for even more web-slinging action, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is slated to arrive soon on the platform too. An exact release date is yet to be announced though, with fall 2022 still being listed as a launch window.
  6. Spider-Man Remastered PC update adds sharpness sliders and fixes a slew of bugs by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Insomniac Games and Nixxes Software have pushed out the second update to the newly released PC version of Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered. Today's 1.824.1.0 update carries bug fixes and a couple of new features players have been asking for. This comes shortly after last week's bug fixing update aimed towards DLSS, ray tracing, and more. While the game supports several upscaling technologies, tweaking the sharpness has not been an option. It's something that is useful for optimizing the look of the game, especially when solutions like DLSS and FSR 2.0 are active. Hearing feedback, two separate sharpness sliders are now available. The first slider lets players fine-tune the game's sharpness when upscaling solutions from Nvidia and AMD are in effect. The second slider is for the overall sharpness seen in-game, similar to the one used in Photo Mode, and is controlled separately from the first slider. Next, PC gamers can now force the game to run on aspect ratios such as 32:9 or 21:9 while on any display, offering the ultra-wide experience for all users who may want it. As for issues being resolved, some of the biggest include Crowd and Traffic Density now being more affected by selected settings, no longer having white artifacts on buildings while web swinging, fixes involving gyro aiming and UI for the Steam Deck, and more. Here's the full list of changes and fixed issues of this update: Added sharpness sliders for NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR 2.0 upscaling. Added a sharpness slider that controls in-game sharpness. Added an option to force the aspect ratio to 32:9, 21:9, etc. Finetuned the spawn rates for Crowd and Traffic Density settings, to better reflect various modes. Implemented a fix for a bug that turned objects into spiked distorted geometry. Fixed white artifacts appearing around buildings while swinging through the city. Fixed various ray-tracing related crashes, including a crash that would occur when enabling ray-tracing on PCs with Intel Ivy Bridge CPUs. Various visual fixes related to ray-tracing on the Very High Geometry Detail setting. Fixed a bug that prevented some players from progressing in the Spider-Hack mission. Fixed black blobs and sparkling pixel artifacts on characters when using Dynamic Resolution Scaling in combination with AMD Radeon GPUs. Enabled Gyro Aiming on Steam Deck for Black Cat Stakeouts and interactable objects. Various UI fixes for Steam Deck. Fixed an issue that prevented the game from launching when the installation folder contained non-Latin characters. Improved field of view and cinematic blur transitions. Improved error handling when Controlled Folder Access prevents the launch of the game. Various visual fixes related to ultrawide aspect ratios and multi monitor setups. Various fixes related to mouse and keyboard controls. Stability fixes related to Dynamic Resolution Scaling in combination with AMD Radeon GPUs. Various stability fixes and improved logging. The developers and Intel are working on resolving a progression blocking bug that's occurring only on Intel GPUs, where players cannot take pictures of the Empire State building. Investigations are also happening on low performance on Nvidia laptop GPUs, some achievements not triggering, and performance degradation when playing for a long amount of time.
  7. First update for Spider-Man on PC brings improvements to ray tracing, DLSS, and more by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Sony and Insomniac Games brought Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered to PC just last week, and already, a patch is out for improving the game's stability on the new platform. The v1.817.1.0 update carries fixes for visual bugs, ray tracing and Nvidia technology improvements, and more. Ray tracing-related issues are a big focus on this update, with crashes and distorted reflections seen while using the feature being mended. Reports of compatible hardware still being denied ray tracing support in-game are being investigated as well. Moreover, those using Nvidia's DLSS and HBAO+ solutions will be glad to know visual improvements have been made to both features. Graphics drivers from both Nvidia and AMD swung in last week too, which should help in avoiding any other issues that may arise. The full list of fixes included in today's update, weighing only 5MB, are these: Fixed various ray-tracing related crashes. Improved Windows version check, to prevent false positives. Visual improvements to HBAO+. Fixed the issue where ray-traced reflections in stainless steel were rendered distorted. Various visual improvements to NVIDIA DLSS. Fixed an issue that could freeze the game if the player would switch between graphics presets during cut-scenes. Fixed an issue where the Side Mission popups would be stretched when playing in a widescreen resolution. Improvements related to stability issues when using Alt-Tab. Fixed various visual glitches. Here are known issues still being worked on: Ray-tracing options may be unavailable in the menu, even with compatible hardware. Ray-tracing is disabled when hardware or drivers are not compatible, or when the DirectX 12 Agility SDK is not functional. We have seen some reports of users that indicate this SDK is not working for them. We are investigating this issue. Some players cannot progress during the Spider-Hack Mission. This is a frame rate related bug that only occurs when well above 60 FPS. While we work on a fix, we have a workaround in place. Restart the latest checkpoint, go to the Graphics Menu, set the game to Exclusive Fullscreen and the Refresh Rate to 60Hz. You should now be able to progress. Afterwards you can switch back to your preferred settings. Some players cannot take a picture of the Empire State Building. Some players have reported being unable to take a photo of the Empire State Building, blocking progression. So far, we have only been able to reproduce this on Intel GPUs. Intel is investigating this issue. Work on the next update for Spider-Man is already in progress at Insomniac and the PC port developer Nixxes Software. This next drop is slated to be a "more substantial" update carrying "bugfixes, improvements and additional features" based on feedback.
  8. Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is now available on PC by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Sony and Insomniac Games' hugely popular game about everyone's favorite webslinger, Spider-Man, is now finally available on PC. The previously PlayStation exclusive action game was surprise announced for PC only a couple of months ago during a State of Play, and already, players from the fresh platform can jump right in. Peter Parker's escapades in New York City was originally released in 2018 for the PlayStation 4, with a PlayStation 5 remaster hitting shelves in 2020. This remaster is also what's being offered to PC gamers, coming with upgraded graphics, The City That Never Sleeps DLC, extra suits, achievements, and a photo mode. Like every other port of a major Sony title, Spider-Man swings in with a suite of PC-specific features, including improved ray-traced reflections and shadows, ultra-wide monitor support, fully customizable graphics options and controls, and even support for the DualSense controller with haptic and trigger feedback (wired only). Quality upscaling solutions from Nvidia (DLSS) as well as AMD (FSR 2.0) are included too, letting even PC gamers with less powerful graphics cards jump in with more stable frame rates. The port is the work of Nixxes, the PC porting specialist developer that Sony acquired in 2021. Below are the minimum (720 at 30FPS) and recommended (1080p at 60FPS) requirements, which paint a quite optimized picture: Minimum Recommended OS: Windows 10 64-bit Processor: Intel Core i3-4160, 3.6 GHz or AMD equivalent Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 950 or AMD Radeon RX 470 DirectX: Version 12 Storage: 75 GB available space OS: Windows 10 64-bit Processor: Intel Core i5-4670, 3.4 GHz or AMD Ryzen5 1600, 3.2 GHz Memory: 16 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB or AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB DirectX: Version 12 Storage: 75 GB available space Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered is now available from Steam and the Epic Games Store with a $59.99 price tag. 9. Spider-Man Remastered system requirements and PC exclusive features detailed by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Sony and Insomniac surprise announced Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered for PC during its June State of Play, and while details about the port were slim then, the floodgates have opened. In a blog post, Insomniac today revealed what fresh features the game will include on PC as well as the all-important system requirements for a smooth experience. "Our goal was to make this game a visual stunner on the PC platform and that meant opening up extensive configurability to PC users with varying hardware, as well as introducing some new techniques and tools to push things even further," said core technology director at Insomniac Mike Fitzgerald. Ray-traced reflections with multiple levels of detail, multi-screen and ultrawide screen support, NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and DLAA (Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing) support, in addition to a large number of graphics quality options for tweaking will all be available for PC players. The Minimum, Recommended, Very High, as well as the "Amazing" and "Ultimate" Ray Tracing system requirement fields can be seen in the image below, which paints a rather optimized picture for this web-slinging adventure: In addition to mouse and keyboard, the game will ship with support for multiple peripherals including the PlayStation DualSense controller, bringing official support for the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback features. Cloud saves and achievements will be present across Steam and Epic stores as well. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered launches August 12 on PC, and pre-orders are now live on both Steam and the Epic Games Store with a $59.99 price tag.
  10. Sony announces Spider-Man Remastered for PC during State of Play by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Sony is bringing its hugely successful Spider-Man game to PC. The massive surprise announcement arrived during its latest State of Play presentation. Catch the short trailer with PC footage above. It's not just the original 2018 game either, as it's the complete Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered package that's going multiplatform. Both Peter Parker's adventure in the original Marvel's Spider-Man as well as 'The City That Never Sleeps' DLC featuring three additional story chapters that take place following the events of the original game are included in the package. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered comes out on PC on August 12, 2022. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is dropping sometime in fall 2022. Exact stores have not been revealed just yet, but judging from previous ports, Steam and Epic Games Store releases are highly likely. UPDATE: Added Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales release information.
  11. Insomniac Games reveals Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine games for PS5 by Asher Madan Today's PlayStation Showcase was full of surprises. Not only did we get an announcement for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, but the team at Insomniac Games confirmed that it was working on Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 should launch in 2023, barring any delays, and focuses on Venom as the villain. Both of the titles are in development exclusively for PlayStation 5 (PS5). The Wolverine trailer didn't tell us much, other than the fact that it focuses on the titular X-Men team member. It seems like he's laying low, off the grid, until an old nemesis finally finds him. It's unclear when Marvel's Wolverine will launch, but you probably shouldn't expect it anytime soon since Spider-Man 2 is coming out in 2023. Many gamers expressed disappointment recently that Sony wasn't showcasing all the games coming to its platforms. This showcase should address their concerns and give gamers even more reason to invest in the ecosystem. What do you think of the two announcements? Will you purchase a PS5 for them? Let us know in the comments below.
  12. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart centered State of Play set for April 29, female Lombax detailed by Namerah Saud Fatmi Today Sony announced that the next State of Play is scheduled to take place this week on April 29. The virtual gaming showcase to take place on Thursday at 2:00 PM PT is going to focus on Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, an upcoming title for the PlayStation 5. Following anticipation from long-term fans, video game developer Insomniac Games announced Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart in June 2020. Departing from the traditional style of the Ratchet and Clank series, a mysterious female Lombax who will be a playable character was also shown. Since then, not much has been revealed about the new playable character. Along with the date and time for the next State of Play, today Sony and Insomniac released a new gameplay trailer for Rift Apart. As promised last year, Insomniac has finally unveiled more information about the female Lombax in the upcoming title in the Ratchet and Clank universe. The trailer revealed the name of the mysterious Lombax to be Rivet. 🎶 Her name was Rivet all along! 😉 pic.twitter.com/XiFRdMIFVC — Insomniac Games (@insomniacgames) April 26, 2021 More information about the game's story was also detailed. Protagonists Ratchet and Clank get separated across dimensions while chasing Nefarious and the Dimensionater. According to the new trailer, part of the game will be set in an alternate dimension where Dr. Nefarious "always wins". In a cutscene, Clank is discovered by Rivet who lives in that alternate world. It appears that she will help him find Ratchet. The latest trailer from Insomniac also displayed Rivet's fighting style, which is identical to the way Ratchet plays. Both Lombaxes appear to use the same array of weapons in the gameplay snippets including Ratchet's signature Omniwrench. You can watch the latest gameplay trailer for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart below. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is due out June 11, 2021, for the PlayStation 5 exclusively. Pre-orders for the game are currently open and can be placed on the PlayStation Store. It is priced at $69.99 for the Standard Edition and $79.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition.
  13. Insomniac confirms Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart will support 60fps, but not at 4K by Namerah Saud Fatmi Image via Famitsu Last night at the gamescom 2020 Opening Night Live event, a host of next-generation games were shown-off. Insomniac's upcoming new instalment in the Ratchet and Clank universe was among those titles. The video game developer shared an extended gameplay demo of Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, displaying the capabilities of the PlayStation 5's powerful SSD. Speaking in an interview with Famitsu, Insomniac Games shared some more information about its upcoming PS5 exclusive today. Players will be able to play the new Ratchet and Clank title at 60fps. In an interview with @WeeklyFamitsu today we confirmed #RatchetPS5 will offer an option to play at 60fps! https://t.co/HRFKHgDE3c pic.twitter.com/7TdyaTdtAv — Insomniac Games (@insomniacgames) August 28, 2020 Unfortunately, it seems that players will have to trade-off 4K resolution in exchange for 60fps. In what seems to be a bizarre decision for a next-gen game, Insomniac has decided to provide players with two options. They can either choose to play with a resolution of 1080p at 60fps or opt for 4K at 30fps. Speaking to Famitsu, Mike Daily from Insomniac also commented on the newly introduced female Lombax. When asked, Daily said that more details about the new playable character will be revealed in the future. A summary of the game was provided by Sony along with the gameplay demo yesterday. It reads: "Ratchet and Clank find themselves at odds with their archnemesis, Dr. Nefarious. Only this time, he’s equipped with the dangerous Dimensionator, a device with the power to travel to other dimensions. The duo fights their way through an army of hired Goons in Megalopolis until something happens and they are ripped apart. Where are they now?" Insomniac Games first announced Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart roughly two months back in June. The game is set to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive and is currently expected to launch with Sony's upcoming console this holiday.
  14. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a standalone expansion-like experience by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales was unveiled during the PlayStation 5 event last week, but some confusion crept in regarding whether it is a full-fledged sequel or an expansion due to some comments made by Sony Interactive Entertainment EVP Simon Rutter, who called it an enhancement and an expansion. After confirming that the game is a standalone project earlier, Insomniac Games went into a little more detail regarding the game today. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is not called a standalone expansion by name, but the studio said it is similar to "Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in terms of overall scope," which was a standalone expansion to Uncharted 4. "Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is an important, heartfelt, emotional and essential experience to expanding the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe," added the studio. The title will be set a year after the events of the Peter Parker-led Spider-Man, with an energy corporation and a high-tech criminal army going to war in Harlem where Miles lives, putting the new wall-crawler in the middle of it. The studio says that Peter Parker's story isn't done yet, but this project will only focus on Miles' new adventures in New York City. The title will have "near-instant loading", ray-traced reflections, 3D audio, new animations, and support for Sony's new DualSense controller features like haptic feedback. According to the studio, the character and city models from the first game are being heavily upgraded to be even more realistic and utilize the increased horsepower of Sony's upcoming console. Spider-Man: Miles Morales is coming to PlayStation 5 this holiday.
  15. Insomniac Games reveals a new playable character in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart by Namerah Saud Fatmi Last week, Insomniac Games revealed the next title in the Spider-Man line of games, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Taking viewers by surprise, Insomniac also announced another game for the PlayStation 5, a new entry to its cult classic Ratchet & Clank series titled Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. The video game series features the galaxy's favorite Lombax, Ratchet, and his trusty robot sidekick Clank. Several of its popular third-person shooter titles have been released across four generations of the PlayStation, including the PlayStation 5. Today the creator of the series announced a new playable character for the upcoming PS5 exclusive: the mysterious new female Lombax showcased in the reveal trailer. Play as Ratchet AND a mysterious new female Lombax from another dimension. #RatchetPS5 #RiftApart pic.twitter.com/aMDSAB77iG — Insomniac Games (@insomniacgames) June 16, 2020 Insomniac Games also confirmed what could already be gleaned from the announcement trailer for Rift Apart, that the new character is from another dimension and that female Lombaxes do have tails. Story-wise not much has been revealed for the game yet, although fans will be happy to hear that it seems to pick up where the 2013 title Into the Nexus left off. The gist of it seems to be that the intergalactic duo will once again be separated due to a rift in the dimensions. This aligns with the ending of Into the Nexus, the last game to continue the storyline chronologically, where Clank finally acquired the Dimensionator and was hoping to help his buddy find the lost Lombax race. In the announcement trailer posted by Insomniac, viewers can see Ratchet and Clank flying across multiple collapsing dimensions with seamless gameplay and no lengthy, tedious loading screens. Apart from portraying the story and gameplay, this might have also been a strategic move to showcase the power and capabilities of the PS5's SSD. Not much else has been released pertaining to the upcoming Ratchet & Clank title as of yet. Hopefully Insomniac will shed more light on the matter in the coming future, especially as the launch of Sony's next-gen console approaches.
  16. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales coming to PlayStation 5 later this year by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Sony today announced a new Spider-Man game during its PlayStation 5 The Future of Gaming presentation, which will have Miles Morales stepping into the web-slinger's shoes instead of Peter Parker. Check out the announcement trailer above. Insomniac Games is returning to develop Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and other than the striking fight scenes and rescues seen in the trailer, all captured on a PlayStation 5, nothing else about the title was revealed today. We do see Morales using his iconic powers like camouflage and, what looks to be, the Venom Strike electric attack during the trailer. Morales appeared in the original game as an ally to Peter Parker's Spider-Man, though obviously, some time has passed since then. Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is heading to the PlayStation 5 as an exclusive, and is slated to release during the 2020 holiday season. This could be a launch title for the next-generation console.
  17. Spider-Man studio Insomniac Games acquired by Sony by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The developer behind last year's Spider-Man and hits like the Ratchet & Clank series, Insomniac Games, is being bought up by Sony to be a PlayStation exclusive studio, joining the Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios group. The studio has primarily been a console developer, mostly pumping out PlayStation exclusives since its inception in 1994. It did hop over to Microsoft's side to develop Sunset Overdrive in 2014. Its most recent PlayStation exclusive hit featuring the wall-crawler went on to become one of its most acclaimed games on the platform. Big news: @InsomniacGames is joining PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios! We are honored and thrilled to join forces with this legendary developer. Please join us in congratulating our friends and partners at Insomniac! pic.twitter.com/hhhqhxZE7k — PlayStation (@PlayStation) August 19, 2019 "Joining the WWS family gives Insomniac even greater opportunities to achieve our studio vision of making positive and lasting impressions on people’s lives," said Insomniac Games founder and CEO Ted Price, who added: "We’ve enjoyed a special relationship with PlayStation practically since our inception. Our partnership amplifies our potential, and Spider-Man was a testament to this. We’re excited to take the next step in our growth alongside our longtime WWS partners. Most of all, we look forward to delivering fresh, new experiences for our fans." Insomniac is currently developing the VR exclusive game Stormland for Oculus, which interestingly does not have a PlayStation VR launch attached to it. In any case, be prepared to see more PlayStation exclusives to come out of the studio in the future.
  18. Microsoft's The Initiative studio hires Insomniac Games' Drew Murray by Jay Bonggolto A few days after Insomniac Games' Sunset Overdrive officially arrived on Windows 10 along with its Steam launch, the game's director is joining The Initiative. Drew Murray, who has been with Insomniac Games since July 2005, has announced his transition to Microsoft's first-party game studio a few hours ago via Twitter. Moments away from starting my new job at @MSStudiosBlog The Initiative! pic.twitter.com/NaMsH3Xytd — Drew Murray (@PlaidKnuckles) November 19, 2018 Aside from serving as a game director for the action-adventure shooter video game, Murray was also one of the designers behind other popular Insomniac Games titles including Resistance 2, Resistance 3, Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction, and Resistance: Fall of Man. Prior to joining the Burbank, California-based video game developer, Murray was a corporate lawyer at Jones Day from 1999 to 2004, according to his LinkedIn profile. Microsoft announced The Initiative at its Xbox E3 briefing in June. It is based in Santa Monica and led by former Tomb Raider head Darrell Gallagher. Murray's role at the studio remains unclear, but his recruitment is seen as another major step by the software giant to shore up its first-party game offerings for players after it announced earlier this month that it's acquiring Obsidian and inXile. That's on top of other big gaming studios Microsoft previously acquired, including Playground Games, Undead Labs, Ninja Theory, and Compulsion Games.
  19. Insomniac Games' Sunset Overdrive is now available on Steam and Windows 10 by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The 2014 Xbox One exclusive Sunset Overdrive has finally arrived on PC today. Following a long line of leaks this year, the new platform announcement officially arrived yesterday, and the port has landed just a day later on Steam and Windows 10. Developed by Insomniac Games, the highly rated open world action-adventure title takes place in a post-apocalyptic future. A new energy drink in Sunset City has turned people into mutants and the player takes the role of a former employee of the company responsible who's trying to take control of the situation. The gameplay is very fast-paced, where players can use a variety of parkour moves and acrobatics to zip around the city while fighting foes. In addition to the single-player campaign, there is a cooperative online multiplayer mode named Chaos Squad as well, which lets up to eight players team up for various objectives. Below are the system requirements of the Steam version. The specifications listed on the Microsoft Store version are effectively identical to these except for needing a Windows 10 PC: MINIMUM: Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system OS: Windows 8 or higher Processor: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.0hz || AMD-FX-6300 Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: Geforce 750 Ti || AMD Radeon R7 260X Storage: 30 GB available space RECOMMENDED: Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system OS: Windows 10 Processor: Intel Core i5 4690 @ 3.5hz || AMD-FX-8350 Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: Geforce 970 or Geforce GTX 1060 || AMD Radeon R9 290x or Radeon RX 480 Storage: 30 GB available space Sadly, it appears Sunset Overdrive is not part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program, with there being separate store pages for the Windows 10 and Xbox One versions. Moreover, while the Xbox One version is on the Xbox Game Pass, the PC version is missing from that service as well. But, the PC version does come included with all of the original season pass content, bringing Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines and The Mystery of the Mooil Rig story expansions, and the Weapons Pack DLC. Costing $19.99, Sunset Overdrive is now available for purchase on Steam as well as via the Microsoft Store for Windows 10. The PC physical edition will be available by next week, with THQ Nordic handling distribution.
  20. Sunset Overdrive officially announced for Windows 10, possibly releasing tomorrow [Update] by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe It's time to act surprised everyone, as Microsoft has officially come out and revealed a Windows 10 version of Sunset Overdrive. The nonchalant announcement came from Major Nelson's Twitter account, where he revealed that Insomniac Games founder and CEO Ted Price will be showing up on the 'This Week on Xbox' video feature tomorrow "to talk about Sunset Overdrive coming to Windows 10 PC." Check out tomorrow’s This Week on Xbox when we welcome @insomniacgames’ @igTedPrice to talk about @SunsetOverdrive coming to Windows 10 PC. Don’t forget your can of OverCharge Delirium XT. pic.twitter.com/2MpNXFTYss — Larry Hryb (@majornelson) November 15, 2018 Leaks regarding a PC version have been popping up all over since earlier this year, with the game even being discovered inside the Steam database. Insomniac Games' official Twitter account joined in on the fun too: Tune in tomorrow to learn more about the best kept secret in games! https://t.co/GwzUnS6VBL — Insomniac Games (@insomniacgames) November 15, 2018 It could be that the original developer has had some sort of a hand in the PC port of the 2014 Xbox exclusive, considering the CEO himself will be there for the full reveal. According to previous leaks, the PC version will include The Mystery of Mooil Rig, Dawn Of The Rise Of The Fallen Machines and Weapons Pack DLC, and THQ Nordic will handle distribution duties. Moreover, there's a big chance of Sunset Overdrive releasing tomorrow for PC alongside the aforementioned video feature, as a now-removed Amazon store page that went up earlier than intended revealed a November 16 release date on it. We expect both a Windows 10 and Steam release, but its unclear if the game will come with Xbox Play Anywhere support. Update: Insomniac Games has now confirmed the November 16 launch data via a new launch trailer uploaded to the studio's YouTube channel:
  21. Sunset Overdrive PC version launches later this week per Amazon listing by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe While Microsoft's X018 event came and went without a mention of Sunset Overdrive's PC version, it looks like Amazon isn't shy about showing off the unannounced port to the public. Discovered by Twitter user Wario64, an Amazon store page has gone up for the Insomniac Games' action title on PC, and its release is listed for later this week on November 16. The Insomniac Games action game has popped up several times this year with reports of a PC version, first getting rated in Korea, then by the ESRB, followed by mentions of it showing up on the Steam Database and the Microsoft Store. It's unclear why we haven't gotten an official announcement yet from Microsoft, but the growing leaks and now the Amazon listing does make it seem like the PC version will definitely land on the aforementioned date. Going back to the store page, it doesn’t have much information listed regarding the port, other than saying that the PC version will come with The Mystery of Mooil Rig, Dawn Of The Rise Of The Fallen Machines and Weapons Pack DLC included. However, this does seem to be set up for the Steam version and not Windows 10, as the game is listed as coming from THQ Nordic - the publisher's logo even appears on the box art. This makes sense as Microsoft and THQ Nordic recently reached an agreement to publish physical and Steam versions of Windows 10 exclusives. The PC version's price is set at $19.99 and pre-orders are already open on the page as well. Hopefully, we will get an official announcement from Microsoft, THQ Nordic, or both, soon.
  22. Sunset Overdrive Windows 10 achievements show up on Microsoft Store by João Carrasqueira Sunset Overdrive has been suggested to be receiving a PC port more than once, and just this week it was reported to have been added to the Steam database. But, being a Microsoft title, it's only natural to expect it to be released through the company's own Store on Windows 10, and now we have some evidence that this will indeed be the case. TrueAchievements has spotted a Game Hub listing for the PC version of the title, which is currently listed under the codename Sunflower, though it cant be accessed by everyone right now. The listing doesn't provide any details regarding a release date, but it does include the full list of obtainable achievements in the title, a total of 80 items worth 1,000 Gamerscore points. With Microsoft Store availability, there's also hope for compatibility with features such as the Xbox Play Anywhere program, which would allow players to enjoy the title on their preferred platform without having to buy it twice. Of course, even the launch itself hasn't been confirmed by Microsoft, so we can only know the company's plans when such an announcement happens. This weekend, the big X018 event is taking place, and with the number of hints we've received in the last few days, it seems like a PC port will most likely be revealed at the event. If that turns out to be true, we won't have long to wait until we know all the details regarding the game's release. Source: TrueAchievements
  23. Sunset Overdrive listing now discovered on Steam Database by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Less than a week after a Sunset Overdrive PC version surfaced through an ESRB listing, the PC version of the Microsoft exclusive title is once again in the news. This time, a back-end Steam app has been discovered that appears to be for Sunset Overdrive. As Twitter user Wario64 uncovered, the listing is a hidden entry that can only be seen through the third-party tool, SteamDB, and appears to have been getting regular updates since its addition to Steam seven months ago. However, since it's hidden, we can't discern any more information from the page, with only the thumbnail image being visible. This could mean that PC gamers are getting the popular Insomniac Games title via the Microsoft Store as well as Steam. Microsoft and THQ Nordic do have a partnership that has previously brought Windows 10 games such as ReCore and Super Lucky's Tale over to the Steam platform, and Sunset Overdrive may be gearing up to be the newest addition. As usual, take the discovery with a grain of salt until some official announcements get made. But, the odds of at least a Windows 10 exclusive release happening is pretty high, considering we've seen ratings for the game pop up in Korea and ESRB this year. If Microsoft does have any plans to announce or even straight up do a surprise release of the game, the upcoming X018 event on November 10 is a good candidate.
  24. Sunset Overdrive PC port surfaces again, gets rated by ESRB by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe A Sunset Overdrive PC port may still be happening, as this time the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated the title for Windows. Back in May, the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea put up a listing for a PC version of the Xbox One exclusive game as well. While we expected an official announcement at E3 2018, nothing of the sort followed. Discovered by Gematsu, this new rating by the ESRB follows the same trend, where we are left to speculate on what's happening behind closed doors. The original developer, Insomniac Games, is currently working on the post-launch content of the PlayStation 4 exclusive Spider-Man, so its highly unlikely that the studio is involved in the porting of a Microsoft game. In any case, if Microsoft is planning any reveals, the company's upcoming X018 event that kicks off on November 10 could be where it happens. But as always, take the findings with a grain of salt until some official announcements come pouring in. Source: ESRB via Gematsu
  25. Insomniac's new Spider-Man trailer shows off a sinister group of villains by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe For the third year in a row, Insomniac's Spider-Man made an appearance at Sony's E3 presentation, and this time, a big focus was on the supervillains that the wall-crawler will be facing. The full seven-minute gameplay showcase can be seen above, featuring Electro, Rhino, Scorpion, Vulture, and even Mr.Negative from the previous trailers, which should give fans some strong vibes of the Sinister Six. Many of these are villains that this version of Spider-Man had put in prison during the eight years he's been active, further emphasizing that this is a highly experienced web-slinger. However, it seems the developer is keeping the big bad of the game hidden for now, who looks to be the one orchestrating all the chaos as well as providing upgraded suits for the villains to cause more carnage. The possibility of this being either Doc Ock or the Green Goblin is high. There are plenty of goons being clobbered between the classic villain appearances as well, giving us further looks at the highly agile combat system. PlayStation 4 owners will be able to get their hands on Spider-Man later this year on September 7. Here is a look at all the special editions that are available for pre-order.
