NASA calls on the public to send their names on its Europa Clipper mission

NASA calls on the public to send their names on its Europa Clipper mission by Paul Hill Every now and again, NASA gets ready to launch a major mission into space and sometimes offers the public a chance to get their name sent into space. The organization has opened up another opportunity such as this. You now have the opportunity to send your name on NASA's upcoming Europa Clipper mission, which is set to land on Jupiter's second Galilean moon, Europa, in 2030. People’s names will accompany a poem called “In Praise of Mystery: A Poem for Europa” by US Poet Laureate Ada Limón. They will be stencilled onto a microchip and head off on the journey in October 2024. If you’re interested in including your name, you must add it to NASA’s website by December 31. Since the programme was announced on the evening of June 1, 2,767 people have added their names. The majority of these submissions are from the United States but names from all the continents have started coming in too. Within the United States, most signatures have come from California, Texas, Florida, and New York. "'Message in a Bottle' is the perfect convergence of science, art, and technology, and we are excited to share with the world the opportunity to be a part of Europa Clipper's journey," said Nicola Fox, associate administrator for NASA's Science Mission Directorate in Washington. "I just love the thought that our names will be travelling across our solar system aboard the radiation-tolerant spacecraft that seeks to unlock the secrets of Jupiter's frozen moon." As mentioned, NASA has held similar programmes for its Artemis I mission to the moon and for several missions to Mars. While anyone is free to add their name, NASA will definitely be hoping that it piques the interest of children who may be more interested to pursue a job in the sciences as a result. In addition to adding your name, the website provides a world map that displays the locations where signatures are being added from. You can also find a live feed of the Clipper clean room to see work going on. -
You can't name your character "Jeff Bezos" in Amazon's New World

You can't name your character "Jeff Bezos" in Amazon's New World by Usama Jawad Image courtesy of Rock Paper Shotgun Amazon's new massively multiplayer online (MMO) role-playing game New World released yesterday. Although it has a "mixed" rating on Steam currently, hundreds of thousands of players purchased the title and played it on day one. While the game's strengths and weaknesses is a separate topic altogether, players have made an interesting discovery. You can't name your New World character "Jeff Bezos" or most of its variants. As can be seen in the screenshot above, Amazon restricts you from using the name likeness of its former CEO and founder Jeff Bezos in New World. As reported by PC Gamer, the title also restricts variations like ""JeffB" "Bez0s" and "Be Zos". Terms like "Amazon" are banned too. It is interesting to note that this is not because the name is in use by other players, because that has a different error message. In this case, the error message simply states that "the name cannot be used". The same wording is displayed when you try to enter in swear words, which is kind of ironic. That said, avid gamers have figured out workarounds to use Jeff Bezos' highly-coveted name in New World. PC Gamer says that "Beff Jezos" works just fine and Rock Paper Shotgun has managed to get "Geoff Bay Sos" working too. Amazon hasn't yet officially confirmed why references to its name and founder are restricted, but this is likely due to the somewhat controversial status of both entities. Amazon regularly comes under fire for labor conditions while Bezos recently found himself in hot water for a tone-deaf statement in which he thanked his employees for funding his expensive trip to space. -

No Man's Sky developer ends 'secret, stupid' legal battle over the name of the game

No Man's Sky developer ends 'secret, stupid' legal battle over the name of the game by Usama Jawad No Man's Sky is a survival adventure game that was shown off at E3 2014 during Sony's briefing. Most critics described the game as original and entertaining, claiming that it "stole the show" at the expo. Originally, the title was scheduled for a release on June 21, 2016, but it was delayed to August 2016 due to undisclosed reasons. Now, Hello Games founder Sean Murray has stated that the company has finally ended a legal battle with British telecommunications company Sky UK Limited, over the game's name - however, there is no evidence to suggest that legal proceedings were the reason behind the delay of No Man's Sky. Apparently, after three years of "secret stupid legal nonsense" with Sky - which own the rights to the word "Sky" - the two parties have resolved their differences and agreed to a settlement. Yay! We finally settled with Sky (they own the word "Sky"). We can call our game No Man's Sky. 3 years of secret stupid legal nonsense over — Sean Murray (@NoMansSky) June 17, 2016 If you are experiencing Déjà vu right now, fret not. Back in June 2013, Sky entered a similar disagreement with Microsoft over the use of the word "SkyDrive" for its cloud data storage service. The Redmond giant lost the case, and had to change the name of its service to OneDrive in 2014. However, this time a relatively smaller legal entity has managed to resolve issues with Sky, with Murray citing Microsoft's predicament, stating that Hello Games was also in a similar and "pretty serious" situation. With that being said, now at least we all know why Skynet never happened as Murray jokingly points out. setup domain email through web host or registar
kman1985 posted a question in Web Design & Development
I have a domain that I registered through namecheap.com and I use hostgator.com as my webhost. I want to know if I should create my main domain email address through my registar (namecheap) or my webhost (hostgator). Does it really matter? I was thinking of using my registar because if I ever decide to switch hosts that nothing would happen to my email like I won't lose my email address or anything. Thanks in advanced. -

Name: The Title This is a game, that I have came up with. It's pretty simple. First you choose a Neowinian, and then give that person a title! Like any other game, this one has rules too. Title should not be by any means offensive and negative. Try to highlight positve or factual aspects of your fellow Neowinian in the title. This is NOT a place for trolling and name-calling. The goal is to be witty, and show funny wordplay. It's alright if you can't think of the 'very funny' one, you can still post it. Read the rules twice! Please don't make any negative or hurtful titles, I don't want this to end up in some cat-fight. Okay, I'll start. Rappy: Mr. Neowin!

No, I don't. I thought about doing so, but then it all went wrong so I use a pool of a few. Depending on what site I am on, depends which area of the pool I dip in to. For question 2, I am asking about more unique names. For instance, Mr Spoon and Mr-Spoon are pretty much the same name, so would count as 1.
